Conservative Action Hero in Top-Notch Thrillers

Long Island, NY – Conservatives have a tough time finding fictional characters they can fully embrace, that is, until author Ray Keating created Stephen Grant.

Keating said, “Like many of my fellow conservatives, I’ve long been frustrated by the lack of conservative heroes in the fictional world, whether it be in a good novel, on television or at the movies. The combination of good storytelling with conservative values and characters should not be the rare exception that it unfortunately is. For good measure, when we do come across conservative values in the creative arena, too often they are offered in stilted stories or reflected in cardboard characters.”

Stephen Grant was a CIA operative, and now he’s a pastor. That turns out to be an exciting and powerful combination in this series of new novels.

In Warrior Monk, Grant has to use skills gained at the CIA and in the Church to protect a pope, face temptation, and take on assorted enemies.

The action in Root of All Evil? swirls around the combination of God, politics and money. It turns out that mix can be quite deadly.

In An Advent for Religious Liberty, a newly elected mayor of New York City attacks Christianity, including calling the Catholic Church a “hate group.” Some people react with prayer – others with violence and murder. Grant faces deadly trials during what becomes known as “An Advent for Religious Liberty.”

Keating added, “In Stephen Grant, I’ve tried to create a conservative protagonist for the 21st Century. I’ve also surrounded him with characters who hopefully readers come to care about and enjoy.”

Regarding these books, reviewers and commentators have used such phrases as “fun adventure romp,” “a fun, intriguing read,” and “a good read, both as pure thriller entertainment and for pondering the Christian mind.”

CNBC’s Larry Kudlow declared Keating’s work “a compelling thriller,” and Congressman Peter King “a fast-moving, riveting read right out of today’s – and tomorrow’s – headlines.”

All three Pastor Stephen Grant novels can be purchased at Amazon.com, where the average reader review rating on these thrillers is 4.3 stars of 5.

New Thrillers from Ray Keating Get Heart Pumping and Brain Thinking

We heard a lot about money, class, faith and liberty during this past election. But the real action, excitement and intellectual stimulation can be found in two new novels from Ray Keating – An Advent for Religious Liberty: A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel and Root of All Evil? A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel.

How about a fast-paced thriller for the Advent and Christmas seasons? In An Advent for Religious Liberty: A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel, the reader is swept up in murder and mayhem caused by a newly elected New York City mayor who wants to ban religion from public life, and takes on the Catholic Church by calling it a “hate group.” Many Christians unite in response, while Pastor Stephen Grant must take on those looking to do physical and spiritual harm.

In Root of All Evil? A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel, Keating explores how people react to and use money. In this page-turner, as in life, money can be a tool for good or evil … and among the evils are envy, greed and murder.

Among the five star reviews for Root of All Evil? on Amazon, one pastor declared: “Keating has once again delivered a page-turning thriller. In an interesting way, he has shown the powerful influence that the love money has in international economics, politics, and in the Church. Pr. Grant continues to evolve as a lead character, and the supporting cast promises more opportunities for twists and turns in books yet to come. I highly recommend this book, no matter what your interests may be - there is something for everyone from action to romance to politics to religious thought. Make some coffee and clear your schedule...you won't want to put this book down!”

Keating introduced readers to Stephen Grant, a former CIA operative and a current Lutheran pastor, in the exciting and thoughtful Warrior Monk: A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel.

Religious Liberty Under Attack in an Advent-Christmas Thriller

Religious liberty is under assault in the world of politics. It’s also under attack in the latest exciting thriller from Ray Keating titled AN ADVENT FOR RELIGIOUS LIBERTY: A PASTOR STEPHEN GRANT NOVEL.

Advent and Christmas approach. It’s supposed to be a special season for Christians. But it’s different this time in New York City. The Catholic Church has been called a “hate group.” And it’s the newly elected mayor of New York City who has set off this religious and political firestorm. Some people react with prayer – others with violence and murder.

Stephen Grant, former CIA operative turned pastor, faces deadly challenges during what becomes known as “An Advent for Religious Liberty.” Grant works with the Cardinal who leads the Archdiocese of New York, the FBI, current friends, and former CIA colleagues to fight for religious liberty, and against dangers both spiritual and physical.

AN ADVENT FOR RELIGIOUS LIBERTY: A PASTOR STEPHEN GRANT NOVEL is a thriller torn from today’s headlines. It’s a different, fast-paced, action-packed story of politics trying to undermine faith during the Advent and Christmas season.

Keating’s previous books include ROOT OF ALL EVIL? A PASTOR STEPHEN GRANT NOVEL and WARRIOR MONK: A PASTOR STEPHEN GRANT NOVEL. In addition to being a novelist, Keating is a newspaper columnist with the Dolan Company and formerly with Newsday, economist, entrepreneur and adjunct college professor.

Regarding Keating’s thrillers, reviewers and commentators have used phrases like “fun adventure romp,” “a fun, intriguing read,” and “a good read, both as pure thriller entertainment and for pondering the Christian mind.”

Amazon.com readers have compared Ray Keating’s thrillers to the works of Clancy, Ludlum, Grisham, and Cussler.

Religious Liberty and Forthcoming Pastor Stephen Grant Novel

Sure, last night (October 16) was the second Romney-Obama debate (and at Hofstra University, where I earned my MBA), but it also was the night I finished the first draft of An Advent for Religious Liberty: A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel.

Very excited about this forthcoming Advent/Christmas novel that, hopefully, is fun and entertaining, while also getting at the issue of government attacking our religious liberty.

Of course, news on its publication date will be spread.

In the meantime, enjoy the first two exciting Pastor Stephen Grant novels.

Early Thumbs Up from Pastors for Root of All Evil? A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel by Ray Keating

Early thumbs up are coming in for Root of All Evil? A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel by Ray Keating from a variety of pastors.

The first review at Amazon.com declares:

Pastor Dean Kavouras: “I have a pile of books to read, but when I learned of the new Pastor Stephen Grant novel I put them all aside and downloaded it onto my Kindle. Like Mr.Keating's first book (Warrior Monk), I stayed up too late reading because I didn't want to put it down. The drama and adventure were top shelf, as good as the big name writers: Clancy, Grisham etc.”

And at the Pastor Grant Novels Facebook page:

Pastor Dustin parker: “Okay - so read the book - better than Ludlum or Dale Brown... In other words a very good read. A- at the most critical I can be.”

“Root of All Evil?” by Ray Keating: A Tale of God, Politics, Money and Murder

Do God, politics and money mix? In Root of All Evil? A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel by Ray Keating, the combination can turn out quite deadly.

Keating introduced readers to Stephen Grant, a former CIA operative and current parish pastor, in the highly praised and fun Warrior Monk: A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel.

Now, Grant is back in Root of All Evil?

It’s a breathtaking thriller involving drug traffickers, politicians, the CIA and FBI, a shadowy foreign regime, the Church, and money. In this page-turner, plots are hatched, lives are lost, accusations are made, friends need and provide help, and relationships change. Money is used and pursued for both good and ill. Charity, envy and greed are on display. Throughout, action runs high.

Keating said, “Since I wrote Warrior Monk, I’ve received surprising feedback from members of the clergy who once were in the intelligence community or know fellow pastors who did such work. It’s been fascinating. In Root of All Evil?, Pastor Grant, his family and friends, and some former co-workers have to deal with the consequences of how money, politics and religion mix, for better or for worse.”

Find a unique character and story, and lose yourself in Root of All Evil? A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel.

Opportunity for Church Groups to Discuss Big Issues and a Fun Novel

On the “Abide in My Word” blog, it was noted that a church book club read and discussed Warrior Monk: A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel by Ray Keating.

From the blog: “We discussed the book, ‘Warrior Monk: A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel,’ by Ray Keating, which everyone in the group thoroughly enjoyed reading, and which is a book that lends itself well to much pertinent discussion, especially among Lutherans. We talked about ecumenism, relativism, secularism, radical Islam, politics, environmentalism, terrorism, torture, parish life and the pastor-parishioner relationship, temptation, the ‘inside baseball’ of the LCMS, which is explored in the book, denominationalism, RC-Lutheran relations/differences, C.S. Lewis, and more… We decided that we were going to give each book we read a rating of 1-5, 1 being the lowest, 5 being the highest. We gave ‘Warrior Monk’ a solid 4, and very much look forward to the next installment in the adventures of Pr. Stephen Grant.”

“Chuck” TV Show Ends But Lessons Live in Book

Long Island, NY – Ray Keating is the author of the recently published “Chuck” vs. the Business World: Business Tips on TV.

Keating said, “The series end of ‘Chuck’ is bittersweet not simply because I’m such a fan, but after writing a book on the business lessons from this television show, it feels personal. ‘Chuck’ will be missed on TV, but I hope this book continues to show additional value from this wonderful show.”

In this fun and insightful book, Keating illustrates that TV spies and nerds can provide insights and guidelines on balancing work and personal life, managing workers, customer relations, leadership, trust, job interviews, technology, hiring and firing people, and career goals.

Larry Kudlow, host of CNBC’s “The Kudlow Report,” said, “Ray Keating has taken the very funny television series ‘Chuck,’ and derived some valuable lessons and insights for your career and business.”

Barbara Weltman said on her “Build Your Business” radio show: “There are so many good lessons here... It’s a really easy read. It’s not a typical academic book where you have to force yourself to go through it. This is a quick and enjoyable read.”

“Chuck” vs. the Business World: Business Tips on TV can be purchased from Amazon.com for $7.99 in paperback or $1.99 for the Kindle. The link is http://www.amazon.com/Chuck-vs-Business-World-Tips/dp/1466345713/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1316819971&sr=1-1.
